  1. HOW TO GET START PROGRAMS UP AND RUNNING
  2.  
  3. 1) Write protect your disk.
  4.  
  5. 2) Make a backup copy.  We format the disk using TWISTER.PRG
  6. (included on this disk) to increase the size of a
  7. single-sided disk to 400K.  You can back up onto one Twisted,
  8. single-sided disk; one double-sided disk; or two
  9. GEM-formatted, single-sided disks.
  10.  
  11. NOTE: TWISTER DOES NOT WORK WITH GEM'S DISKCOPY.  To make a
  12. backup using GEM's filecopy, open a window for your START
  13. disk, then drag the files in the window to the icon
  14. representing your backup disk (users of single disk-drive
  15. systems will be instructed by GEM to swap disks.)
  16.  
  17. 3) Store the original and use the backup hereafter.
  18.  
  19. 4) Un-ARC the files.  We use Double Click Software's DC SEA
  20. utility to create self-extracting archive files.  NOTE:  This
  21. is a new version which will work with the STE.  To un-ARC a
  22. program, simply double-click on the filename.

  24. 5) When the dialog box appears, choose Extract.
  25.  
  26. 6) When the file selector appears, choose a destination disk
  27. (hard disk, RAM disk or floppy disk) for the uncompressed
  28. files.  Make sure the destination disk has enough space for
  29. the uncompressed files, whose sizes are given below.

  32.            REV_ARC.PRG  -- 270K
  33.            MOUSEARC.PRG --  19K
  34.            FILL_ARC.PRG --  48K
  35.            MONO_ARC.PRG --  75K
  36.            TWISTER.PRG  -- NOT ARCed
  37.            ZOT_ARC.PRG  -- 121K

  39. The screen goes blank, then the files are listed as they are
  40. extracted, and marked "OK" if the uncompression is
  41. successful.
